First: It's our Founder's favorite bird - since childhood. Growing up on the Gulf Coast she was always - and remains - in awe of its determination, 'knowing,' and beauty.
The Brown Pelican also happens to be an iconic and great reminder of the perils of The Gulf. That said, The Brown Pelican is also a great navigator, protector and a beacon for all of us who care so deeply about The Ocean.
Our hearts are with The Gulf. And while The Gulf is a small area of The Ocean, it represents what can & will happen if action isn't taken; it also represents all that can be.
